London Meeting Up This Weekend

From Kate:

August London meetup already!
Southbank Centre, SE1 8XX near Waterloo station, 11am onwards on the 3rd August.

This venue is working out really well.

They sell food in a cafe (standard sandwiches etc.), but they also don’t mind people bringing food in from outside. There are several other local places where you can buy stuff as well. There is a farmers’ market outside with loads of different food options, which can fit most food requirements, or you can also bring a packed lunch.

To avoid confusion, we will meet at one of the inside tables, in one of the windows in the side facing towards the Queen Elizabeth Hall. The large open area is on what a British person would call the first floor, but is labelled as floor 2 just to be helpful.

I will have my Cthulhu with me, which looks like this: http://forbiddenplanet.com/3950-cthulhu-baby-plush/ I have long brown hair and glasses.

The venue is accessible via a lift, and has accessible toilets.

The London Awkward group has a Facebook page, which is here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/549571375087294/

My email is Kate DOT Towner AT Gmail DOT com
(September meetup is likely to be the 14th, but I’m not sure yet.)

See you Saturday

  1. FYI for those coming from North of the river, it’s the Prudential RideLondon event tomorrow and roads will be closed around Westminster/City of London areas, which means some bus routes won’t run, others will be diverted. Also, I’d expect the South Bank area to be even busier than usual, so give yourself some extra time to navigate the crowds!

  2. I can’t come anyway as I’m on holiday (yay!) but can we please have these announcements a little time in advance? I read the last announcement either on the day of the meet-up or the next day, and was disappointed because I would have gone if I’d known it was happening. This may not be the awkwardness that is intended…

(I hope to see y’all next month. Would it be possible to post the September date now, so I can put it into my calendar, please?.)

    1. As above, the next one is most likely the 14 th September.
If you join the facebook group, or send me an email, I’ll let you know if that changes.
