I have two pieces of news for you.
1) Sometime today this humble blog received its 1,000,000th page view.
2) After the positive response the other day and her confession that she misses blogging, I’ve invited Sweet Machine to post here whenever she likes. You should continue to email questions to the same email address (welcometoawkwardtownATgmailDOTcom), but if there’s something you’d particularly like her to take a look at, stick “For Sweet Machine” somewhere in the subject line and I’ll pass them on.
For those of you who don’t know her, here’s a brief bio:
Sweet Machine is a writer and academic currently living in Chicagoland. You may know her as one of the founding co-bloggers at Shapely Prose, where she ruled the comments section with an iron fist. She takes her pseudonym from a Mark Doty poem. You can also find her on Twitter.

As someone who regularly 1) posts the Shapely Prose FAQ on people’s FB walls and statuses and posts to the point of probably public nuisance and 2) just goes to the SP archives and farts around cuz the writing there is so spectacular and 3) has just recently fallen as deeply in love with THIS website, I am beside myself with glee right now.
